“ It was my first time trying out Jeffrey's and it's a pretty good burger spot! I got a double cheeseburger because I usually get that for smash burgers but it was super filling. I would get a single next time. The fries were almost too garlicky but I was just too full to eat them. The root beer float hit the sweet spot! Service was fast and easy. We snagged seats at the counter since it was popping the night we went. ”
“ Can't believe I haven't reviewed a San Mateo staple! This has been here forever. I came here after I graduated from Aragon which was a whiiiiile ago. Safe to say the quality of the burgers never changed! I went with a patty melt with pepperjack cheese and mushrooms which was surprisingly filling. I asked for medium rare but got medium instead which is no big deal but I like my burgers a little more pink on the outside. Flavors of the burger are always on point. I'd say the patty size is about 6 oz of ground beef. Probably use 80/20 but if the owner responds to this review, you can correct me if I'm wrong! Everything is cooked to order. Sweet potato fries WITH the spicy aji sauce was the highlight of the meal. My wife and I LOVED the aji sauce, we wanted to order a bottle of it but not sure if that's sold separately. I was told that the sauce was made in-house! Perfect amount of kick. It was like an avocado crema kinda? Hard to describe, really good on the fries and burger. My wife scarfed down her pineapple teriyaki burger in less than 5 min, a testament to how great the burger was. And how hungry she was lol. I didn't get a milkshake this time around, but from what I can remember, their milkshakes are bomb too. Wasn't too busy on a Sunday afternoon. They have a covered outdoor seating area in the back. There is one bathroom located through the kitchen behind the dishwashing station. No garbages to throw anything away, just leave finished meal on table and it'll be bussed accordingly. Looking forward to coming back! ”
“ Great little hamburger place with fast service. My daughter loved The grilled cheese here and she's picky about grilled cheese sammies. We called it in and they had it ready in 15 minutes fresh and hot. Parking is tough as it's downtown and it's a little pricey for what it is ($8ish with tax?) but it was tasty. ”
“ The burgers here are so juicy and I love the simplicity of them. Nothing is over complicated but you get to pick from a few different burger options. The menu is definitely on the pricier end, but everything tastes fresh! It is a cute old timey themed diner. Order at the counter, grab a seat, and the food comes out pretty quickly. I've had the avocado burger and the bacon cheeseburger a handful of times. Milkshakes are some of the best thing on the menu. Skip the garlic fries, but definitely get the onion rings! I usually end up here when I'm craving some comfort food in the downtown San Mateo area. ”
“ Got some lunch at Jeffery's in San Mateo with some friends. I've eaten at the Menlo Park location before, but it was my first time at this outpost. As expected, everything was the same: large burgers and generously poured milkshakes. They literally give you the container that the shake was mixed in, which allows you to fully replenish your shake after sucking it down. Now that's a great deal, the value of which is compounded on a hot day. ”
“ This was a really good burger! Diner decor, nice and clean with a good retro vibe and the food was awesome. I had a burger with swiss cheese and I have to say, the tomatoes on this burger were hands down the best burger joint tomatoes I've ever been lucky enough to get, ripe red all the way thru and tasting like fresh off the vine. Really the perfect kick if you like tomato on your burger. I did not try their sides this time, I was not hungry enough that day, but I will be trying them next time. You order at the counter and then sit down and they bring it to you, and the counter people and wait staff were all super friendly and nice to chat with. If you are in the area, you have to try them! ”
“ Solid attempt at a teriyaki chicken sandwich. Juicy chicken breast and fresh produce ok na perfectly toasted French roll. But I'm still hunting my unicorn, a dupe of Fremont's now closed Mission Birger's version. ”
“ Absolutely obsessed with their burger bowls!! I usually order through DoorDash, so I haven't had a chance to sit in the restaurant. Whenever I drive by, there is always people coming in and out. Since it's in downtown San Mateo, parking is tricky but it's doable! There is street parking and nearby parking garages/lots. Whenever we order through DoorDash, the orders are always made perfectly. We've never had anything missing from the order. I'm a huge fan of the avocado burger bowl. It comes with a burger patty and half an avocado on top of a bed of mixed greens. The best part is the crunchy fried onions on top and the vinaigrette. It's a lot of food and I feel stuffed at the end. ”
